Widowed Parents

Group Description

**We're just getting set up and will begin planning events soon. Please sign up and we'll be in touch!**

Are you a widowed parent, dealing with the death of your spouse in addition to helping your child(ren) cope with the death of their parent?

Acts of Simple Kindness for Kids of Widows and Widowers (ASK) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization started in 2009 by a young mother who was widowed in 2007 when she was 38. Her husband was only 41 when he died suddenly and unexpectedly, leaving her along to raise their 4 1/2 year old son. ASK provides assistance to children, through the age of 18, to pursue programs in education, sports, music and the arts.

ASK also organizes events (picnics, movies, etc) around the Valley to connect other widowed parents and their children. All are welcome -- newly widowed, in new relationships or remarried, etc -- if you've been widowed with children under 18, please join us!

Free or low cost event suggestions are especially appreciated. This is a cooperative group soif you'd like to organize an event, please let us know. If there is not much interest in an event, we may change it or cancel it so be sure to check back a few days before the event is scheduled to confirm we have enough participation and get directions on where to meet the group.

This is a supportive environment where your kids can be around other children who 'get it' when it comes to missing Mom or Dad. We also have an online forum that can be used for support and communication.

When you join please include a photo of yourself and your children, as well as a description of your family.

The widowed journey is a tough one for surviving parents and children alike, but together we can get through this.
